This special take home kit was designed by a local Indigenous artist, Ashley Bensoussan, to recognize and celebrate Indigenous Peoples Day and Pride. We will be combining the traditional indigenous art form of beading with our love and support for Pride month by creating custom rainbow design fringe earrings. Ashley will walk you through the supplies needed for making beaded fringe earrings in any design as well as provide step by step instructions throughout the entire process. You will gain a strong foundation of knowledge that will allow you to continue on with other beading projects if you wish to do so after this workshop.
Artist Bio: My name is Ashley Bensoussan and I grew up in Belleville not far from Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory. I am a multifaceted entrepreneur who first and foremost loves to create. As I started my journey of reconnecting with my indigenous roots I wanted to find a path of connection that intersected with my creative passion and therefore beading came as a natural next step. As soon as I began beading I was instantly consumed by how much I enjoyed it.
