June 13th – September 9th, 2023
A walk down memory lane with artist Bill Vanwart. This special collection of Bill’s works has been brought together for this one time exhibition at the Museum of Lennox and Addington. Bill has reached out to former and current patrons to gather his works from across the decades to create a show that truly reflects the evolution of him as an artist.
Bill describes himself as… “A little Van Gogh, a little Dali, a lot of Group of Seven and a dash of J.C. Roy and me.” Bill has been oil painting for a number of years now. After teaching Art at High School for 30 years and trying to fit painting in when he could, Bill is now retired and able to paint every day. He decided to move away from landscapes, buildings and the like, to Art which gives the viewer a little more to imagine and a little more to ponder.
He has been using strong brushstrokes and complementary colours– long flowing abstracted figures to give the viewer a dynamic view and a thought of what will be next and where one has been. “My work is highly influenced by music, especially the Blues, by figure drawing and wanting to do things differently so the viewer has a new set of thoughts and a new feeling when looking at my work”. -Bill Vanwart
