What the Night Brings

Winter/ Spring 2024

On a whim, Museum staff have decided to stay in the dark. What goes on in the night- what comes out to play? Weird, dark mysterious, magical, playful, and beautiful…come experience art and photography inspired by life that happens in darkness. Thanks to the art of Clelia Scala and wildlife photographer Bill Bickle. A small curation of sculpture and photography that captures nocturnal wanderings can be found in pockets of the Museum…look for owls, playful wolves, and mystical mushrooms.

About the Artists

Clelia Scala, Artist

Clelia is a visual artist whose work includes mask and puppet design, installations, collage, and illustration. Her explorations into the fantastic and uncanny stem from a lifelong engagement with tales and myths and her interest in the theme of human interaction with the natural world.

Bill Bickle, Photographer

Bill is an award winning wildlife photographer. Capturing wildlife images through photography provides lasting documentation that enables audiences to perceive past seasons and times gone by with the birds, and landscapes. Over the years, his appetite for capturing images while surrounded by natural settings has grown stronger. He is constantly motivated to hone his craft. Environmental changes and human populations are fast encroaching on natural landscapes and wildlife populations. All the more incentive for him to catalogue the beautiful spaces, animals, and birds in nature.
